Project Overview:
The expansion and modernization program has enhanced the passenger experience and the evolving needs of the airport. The project features the addition of two dramatic canopies over curbside pick-up and drop-off areas, and a redesigned central atrium space.
Structural Narrative:
SYKES was responsible for the design of the four new vertical circulation cores built to receive the pedestrian bridges that span the roadway. Our scope also included modernizing the exterior facades, entrance vestibules, and interior atrium space. The program required evaluating the impact of new loading conditions on the existing roof trusses, filler beams, connections, columns, and foundations. The existing structure was strengthened as required to meet the current building code, while phasing the construction to maintain building operations.
