Project Overview:
The MHJIT project is a part of the Airport's 10-year, $6.8 billion Hartsfield-Jackson Development Program – Focus on the Future. The MHJIT development improves the way passengers navigate through the Airport. Before competition, arriving Atlanta international travelers had to claim their luggage, process through US Customs, recheck their luggage and then reclaim it in the terminal building. Now complete, the new international facility created an elevated level of customer service by eliminating the baggage recheck process for Atlanta passengers.
The new International Terminal and Concourse consists of several major components including a new parking garage. The project features a 1,100-vehicle parking. Additionally, new terminal access from the east side of the Airport via Interstate 75 gives passengers added convenience.
