
Project Overview:
The University of Georgia Science Learning Center provides modern, efficient and flexible space for undergraduate laboratory teaching. The building includes 33 instruction labs, two 280-seat lecture halls, two 72-seat SCALE-UP(Student-Centered Active Learning Environment for Undergraduate Programs) class-rooms as well as spaces for informal student collaboration. The building accommodates laboratories, offices, and classrooms for several science departments; including Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Physics, Anatomy, Ecology and Plant Biology Departments.
Structural Narrative:
The building consists of a four-story concrete frame building with a 14,700 GSF steel frame auditorium. A steel frame mechanical penthouse is located on top of the building concrete frame.
